Fosse 10 Mile Charity Walk

Fosse 10 Mile Charity Walk

Members of Fosse, as well as colleagues and families, walked for 10 miles in the Peak District to raise £10k for Me & Dee charity.

The charity gifts holidays to terminally ill children and their families, helping to create happy end of life memories.

Our co-president and walk organiser Mehmooda Duke said: “After hearing about the brilliant work Me & Dee does, the group unanimously decided to support the charity. They truly do brilliant work and make such a difference to families who have children with limited time remaining.

“They fund a holiday for them which allows them to spend some quality time together as a family and create lasting memories. We are thrilled to be able to support them by way of the money raised in sponsorship. We still have money being donated and hope to exceed our pledge of £10k.”

In previous years we have supported Age UK, the Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign and the children’s cancer ward at the LRI.

Maria Hanson of Me & Dee said: “It is difficult to put into words how much this deeply appreciated support and generosity means to my charity, which is self-funding and is in its 11th year. Our caravans offer a safe haven, and place of peace for families taking very often, their last holiday when their time together is so short and precious. This will enable many families to take these much-needed holidays, where a private beach hut is also included on the sea front, to make the best memories possible. The support and care of FBBC has truly shown how ‘together, we can make a difference’.

FBBC founder Ranjit Thaliwal added: “We were delighted to support such a superb cause. It was a wonderful effort by Fosse BBC members and all those who did the walk. The weather was also very kind to us in the Peak District.”
