Do You Have 15 Minutes to Save a Life?

Every 20 minutes in the UK someone finds out they have blood cancer; so on Monday 21st September at The City Rooms in Leicester we are working with The Rik Basra Campaign in association with Anthony Nolan to help potentially save these peoples lives…

One common myth is that to donate bone marrow you have to have stem cells painfully extracted, thankfully this absolutely isn’t the case.

To join the register all you need to do is spare 15 minutes to provide a saliva sample, and then in the 1 in 250,000 chance you are a match for someone who needs a life saving stem cell transplant, this is usually done via a process which is pretty much the same as giving blood.

So, how can you help save a life in just 15 minutes?

On Monday 21st September Fosse BBC is running a recruitment drive for the Anthony Nolan register as part of the ‘Pass It On Leicester’ campaign, organised by the Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign

We are asking anyone who is between the age of 16-30 to come along to The City Rooms, in Leicester City Centre between 8am – 2.30pm for just 15 minutes to sign up to the Anthony Nolan register.

Please share this event as widely as possible with anyone or any organisation that you think might be able to raise the attendance on the day. Even if you aren’t in the age group that can register, please still share to help us raise awareness.

It’s a numbers game and the more people we can get signed up to the register the more lives we can save.
