£10k Raised for Children’s Cancer Ward

Yesterday Fosse’s co-founders Ranjit Thaliwal and Sameer Karim presented a cheque of more than £10k to Leicester Royal Infirmary’s Children and Young People’s Cancer Unit.

We have raised the funds through various fundraising efforts throughout the past year – including a ten mile walk in the peak district. The money will be allocated to the Multi-Sensory Unit and help buy equipment for children suffering with cancer.

Tim Diggle, Head of Fundraising at Leicester Hospitals Charity, said: “Leicester Hospitals Charity is so grateful to the members of Fosse Business Breakfast Club.

“The funds raised will help support the young people while they are staying on the unit having treatment. But the fact that a group of Leicester business people have gone out of their way to help demonstrates to the young people that they are not alone in facing cancer – people care about them. And that is really important.”

Ranjit said: “The money will hopefully make a difference – however small – to those who need it. We could not have raised such a sum without the support of Leicester’s business community and for that we are all grateful.”

The bulk of the money was raised through a sponsored ten mile walk in the Peak District, carried out by our members last September, with more being raised at a Christmas ball.

Ranjit added: “It was such a fantastic effort by all the club’s members to raise the sum, in particular I would like to thank Mehmooda Duke and all the team at MDS for their time and effort in undertaking the organisation for 50 or so people to walk around the Peak District.”

Sameer said: “The cancer unit is such a vital asset to the hospital and everyone at the business club is delighted to have been able to raise this money.”
